What did someone do in an emergency room that made you say "You gotta be kidding me"?

I was watching this real life ER program and two parents brought in their very young daughter, about 10 years old, her heart was racing, the doctor laid her in bed and hooked her up to ECG, and he said her heart rate was over three times what it should be and she would be in serious danger of they don't bring it down. He asked for their permission to try to use the electric paddles that are normally used to restart someones heart, to try and shock her heart back into a normal Rhythm. They thought about it because it was very dangerous, but they really had no choice, so they agreed. The doctor wheeled in the emergency tackle, hooked up the paddles, "charging", "clear", "BANG", a few seconds go by but her heart was still racing on the ECG monitor, he decided to try again, "charging", "clear", "BAM", again they wait for her heart to respond, but it just kept on racing. The doctor then said he was going to try something that might look unusual but it sometimes works with small children. He then came back with a bucket of ice cold water, he asked the girl to stick her whole head in the water, she was obviously upset but he managed to convince her, and she plunged her whole head under the water for just a couple of seconds, as she pulled her head out of the water her heart rate, (we could all see on the ECG monitor) literally started to plummet, we were all glued to the ECG as her heart rate kept falling, falling, falling, for about a minute, until it finally settled at normal. She was in tears, her mum was in tears, and I was in tears. The doctor said, he's done that only a couple of times before and they're still not sure why it works, but it only seems to work on kids.

And that was the moment I said, You've got to be kidding me!!!
