The deadline for the completion of the construction works of the Solar de Metoro Plant, in Mozambique's district of Ancuabe, has just been extended to January next year.

That is according to Dinis Vilankulos, representative of NEOEN, a partner company of Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) in the implementation of the country's largest solar energy project, being installed in the province of Cabo Delgado, who said the works that, in principle, should end this August, have reached a 68% rate of completion.

Vilankulo, cited by Rádio Moçambique, pointed out as the main causes for the delay "the current adversities that the province is experiencing".

The foundation stone for the construction of the plant was laid on October 23, 2020, by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi.
