The Zimbabwen government is investing $600 Million in Matabeleland Zambezi Water Project to resolve for good the recent water crisis faced by the country due to drought.

The Matabeleland Zambezi water project (MZWP) embodies a massive water project in Zimbabwe's and Matabeleland North province which aims to alleviate the persistent water scarcity that plague Zimbabwe's second-largest city, Bulawayo, by providing water from the glorious Zambezi river to the city.

The mega infrastructure investment project is being implemented in three phases, with the Gwayi-Shangani Dam as first phase, Gwayi-Shangani Dam to Bulawayo Pipeline as second phase and a final Gwayi-Shangani Dam to Zambezi River Pipeline as the third phase.
