Hi everyone and welcome back to our weekly wildflowers, which hasn't been so weekly for a while now. Anyway, today we have the "wood lily", which is a native wild lily, and is the most widespread native wild lily in N. America. It prefers full sun locations, but will also grow in part shade, in open woods, meadows, along roadways and railroads. Usually they will have a single flower, but can have up to 5 flowers on one stem. They are found mainly in orange, but also red and yellow colors. This is one of those wildflowers that will seldom, if ever, rebloom if it is picked. So much better to take pictures and leave the flower to bloom. There are areas here where this lily was once common, but now is very hard to find. They will grow up to 3 feet tall (nearly 1 meter) and bloom from June to August. They can be found throughout most of Canada and much of the US. I hope you all have a great day and God bless!
