Coffee And Chatting. #11

Good morning to everyone on this beautiful, sunny Tuesday! It did rain overnight again, but right now the sky is a brilliant blue and the sun is warm and shining so brightly. A good time for a cup of coffee and sitting out on the deck with the chipmunks. Oops, well, maybe not sitting as it is still rather wet out there. But the chipmunks are definitely busy getting their peanuts and sunflower seeds.

And even though there are several spots to feed they still end up chasing each other. Poor little GPS, he had a rough time at the start. He just came onto the deck while I was outside and I stepped on a peanut shell, which cracked and GPS jumped right off the deck into the raspberry plants! But he came back up after just a little bit and this time I was moving one of the plastic boxes and happened to drop it.

Sitting and feeding my chipmunks on a calmer day, this one is Skamper.

Well, that was too much and GPS again jumped off the deck into the raspberry plants. Then Jasmine came along and I started talking to her. Poor GPS came up right then and right beside Jasmine. I am not sure who was more startled by that, but Jasmine jumped about a foot straight up and ran off the deck. GPS turned and jumped, for the third time now, right back into the raspberry plants! It took him a little longer to come back after that one.

Jasmine came back first, but slowly, looking all over to see what it was that came onto the deck. She was satisfied that nothing was around so she went into the box to get the peanuts. Well, next came Pocket and he just ran straight over and into the box to get peanuts. That was too much. Jasmine started running in circles and finally out the one end of the box while Pocket also ran in circles and came running out the other end.

An older photo of a chipmunk named Rusty.

Both came back slowly and peered in their respective doors. Jasmine saw it was a chipmunk and the chase was on! But Pocket had a good head start so he easily got away. Jasmine sat on the edge of the deck chattering at Pocket. Meanwhile Coffee came along and stayed close to the apartment wall so Jasmine would not see him and he went inside the box, got his 3 peanuts and off he went. But Jasmine spotted him coming out and the chase was on!

They went around the flower pots and boxes while Skitter came up and joined the chase, then Skamper also came along and joined the chase. Poor Jasmine was not really sure what was going on at this point so she just jumped off the deck into the raspberry plants! The other chipmunks continued chasing each other and GPS came up on the deck just as the other 3 were coming along the edge of the deck. GPS spotted them and jumped far enough to get past the raspberry plants this time.

Another photo of Rusty, he was very tame, I miss him.

Skitter followed, but Skamper had left the chase and went to get his peanuts. Pocket stayed looking over the edge of the deck, probably to make sure the others did not come back. Skamper then ran and over the deck right beside Pocket, getting away quite easily. Pocket looked a bit puzzled but he came back, got his peanuts and began to leave. Jasmine came back at this point and the chase was on! But Pocket made it over the edge of the deck just as GPS was coming up onto the deck again.

Another photo of Skamper.

Poor little guy, he once more jumped back into the raspberry plants! Jasmine came and got the last peanut and sat there chattering and eating. I put a couple peanuts by the edge of the deck and GPS came up once again, picked up the peanuts and left. He is persistent, that is for sure. Things have tamed down now, Jasmine has gone and the chipmunks are just concentrating on getting their peanuts. Oops, I see Skamper is chasing Skitter again. Oh well, they do have their fun. I need some of that energy. It is still a beautiful, sunny morning, time to go out and try for some pictures. Have a great day and God bless!
