Mandar and Kristina already knew about the clinic destruction. When something happens to the clinic or the chateau, an alarm message is automatically sent to every team member. Mandar then called one of his men, Chuck. "What is going on?" asked Mandar. "The whole place was destroyed," said Chuck, "but we got everyone involved. The chateau is like the clinic, total destruction. We are looking for survivors, but have not found anyone yet." "Keep looking, and let me know," said Mandar quietly.
He was really shocked by the news, as was Kristina. Now, back to where Lavina enters the room. Her women quickly took out their guns, but were taken care of by Mandar's men. Now Lavina was all alone. "You may leave now, Storm," said Mandar. Storm growled and jumped out of Lavina's arms and onto a nearby bed. "He is your cat?" said Lavina angrily, "you will pay for this!" "I am afraid you will not be able to carry out your threat, my dear Lavina," he said, "your days are over.
Do you have a gun? No, of course you do not. I doubt you have actually killed anyone yourself, you always have others do it for you. You are a coward Lavina, you always have been. And you have been like your mother since you were a very young girl. A girl full of hate and wanting to hurt others as much as you can." "I can handle a gun as good as anyone!" she yelled. "Prove it, Lavina," he said, "Kristina has a gun in a back holster. (Kristina takes off her jacket) Here is my gun." He tossed it to Lavina.
"Now, see if you can kill Kristina," he said, "I doubt you can." Lavina looked at Kristina, then at the gun, then she suddenly turned and aimed at Mandar. A single shot echoed in the room. Lavina lay on the floor, dead. "Your last big mistake, out of many this week," said Mandar, "you forgot about my cane gun. If you would be so kind..." Mandar pointed to the gun on the floor. Kristina picked it up and gave it to Mandar.
"Thank you, my dear," he said, "such bending is difficult for a man of my, shall we say, build." He then held out his arm, and Kristina gave him her arm. Together they left the room. "I just could not bring myself to shoot an unarmed woman," said Mandar, "even though she did not deserve the opportunity to defend herself. But that is the end of Lavina." Storm was sitting on Mandar's shoulder as they walked out to the car.
Meanwhile, turning the clock back a bit... Meow, meow!=We sense danger, big danger, must hide. Sky knew enough to trust the cats and she got everyone into the safe room, part of which is the room where us patients are located. Meow!=Hide now! Sky looked at me and threw herself on top of me. She should have gone under the bed. The cats had already brought the extra pillow to put on top of me, so they put it on Sky and then lay down on top to hold the pillow in place. Muffin had told the kittens to hide, but they watched what was happening.
They then looked at each other, then over to my face, and they threw themselves over my face to protect it. Everything happened so fast, the force of the explosion threw the cats and the pillow onto the floor. Two steel beams fell from the ceiling and leaned on the inner wall, forming a sort of tent over the girls, keeping them relatively safe. Not so for us however, as the ceiling came crashing down on top of us. Sky could not move, or feel anything. She looked over at me, but all she saw was something lumpy and thick gray dust on my face.
Then up popped two little heads and they jumped off my face. Then they squeezed out through some cracks in the concrete and into the daylight. They saw the men poking around and so they starting jumping and mewing. One of the men spotted them and came over. Soon all the men were around trying to move concrete and steel to reach us. Crandall and the others returned and joined in the search.
Meanwhile... Rock and Annelie got the alarm message on the jet. They just sat there staring, not knowing what to think. He had told Richard to take some men over to the clinic to help, since Ken had told Rock he had no authority to order him around. That is when he called Richard. He and the men arrived, but too late, so they went back to get some equipment to help dig us out.
Baldwin got the alarm message too and immediately called me, but nothing. Then he called Sky, still nothing. He then called Ken, and exploded with anger when he heard Ken would not help Sky and Kristina. He was not far away, just down at the Mediterranean relaxing by sea. He was back home quickly and Ken was fired. He then went to the clinic to see the destruction...
