Been thinking a lot about my portfolio. Unsure where to go from here. I am 100% more "value" than growth. That has worked for me as I am actually still in the green for 2022. It seems to me that I should switch to some growth when the Fed is clearly finished with interest rate hikes. The day Powell signaled that he might moderate the raises saw my hypothetical growth portfolios go up 5 to 6%.
To some extent the wipeout of some of the growth but no profit names over the past 15 months has been very similar to the Nasdaq wipeout of 2001-02. I remember that still and there were some pretty decent profits to be made picking through the rubble.
On the other hand, I sometimes think, "why even take the risk of buying some of these growth names"? I am 63. I have enough assets that if I just invest in "widows and orphan" type names I will be comfortable the rest of my life. So what am I trying to accomplish?
At the end, I enjoy the intellectual challenge of trying to beat the market, even though I realize that is exceedingly difficult. And interestingly, as I have pointed out in the past, some "widows and orphan" stocks/securities were not as safe in 2022 as one might have been lead to believe.
