Thoughtful People Are Always Grateful
I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me. Psalms 3:5 NLT
One essential quality you need to be grateful is thoughtfulness. A thoughtful person will always have reasons to be grateful. For thoughtful person no blessing is considered small or insignificant in their eyes. Whether it's what God does or what people do for them. They are thankful for everything. Another exceptional thing about thoughtful people is that they are never in want of what to thank God for; in fact, they have so much to appreciate Him for because they can think deeply they acknowledge His hand in everything in and around them.
It's quite easy to show gratitude when we're blessed with big things - weddings, new babies, new homes, promotion at work, and so on. However, when perhaps we can't seem to find anything 'big' that has happened in our lives from January till date, we are tempted to think God has not really done much for us. This can only happen when you're not a thoughtful person. Nothing is small in the eyes of a thoughtful person - they're grateful for everything. Look at David in our anchor text for this morning, he saw his ability to sleep and wake up as a miracle that only God has blessed him with and so he was grateful for it. He was the president of his nation so he was living in luxury but he wouldn't attribute the rest he enjoyed to the military might at his disposal or the luxury of his palace. He acknowledged first of all that being able to sleep and wake up is nothing short of a miracle, and that only God made it happen for him.
Nothing has ever affected the intensity of my gratitude to God. Everything is big in my eyes and I see God's hand in everything. Thoughtful people don't have entitlement mentality and this is why they show humility in their gratitude. I don't believe God owes me anything, whatever He does for me is as a result of His mercies so it behoves me to thank Him for it. I also don't believe anybody owes me anything so I show gratitude to everyone God has brought into my life. You can't be anymore thankful than you're thoughtful. Thoughtfulness will make you to be grateful for everything. I couldn't agree more with Williams Arthur Ward when he said "Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy and change ordinary opportunities into blessings." When you are thoughtful you will be grateful.
ACTION STEP
Be like David, never take anything good in your life for granted. Make it a habit to be grateful for everything.
KEEP IN MIND
