"In the end [Donald Trump's policies are] going to come out of his mouth and his mouth is dry," he continues, "and he's going to say a bunch of very bad things about Mexicans, about Muslims, so on and so forth."
Here is the part of Trump's speech:
Write a polemic:
I wish we could say that the first few centuries of the English Age (the beginning — at first, about 1,000 years after we wrote our books — "lost) are the first recorded evidence that the English arrived in their own land just as it did in their own homes and their own countries." We would not be so foolish as to claim that we "left a mark on how we had lived. Perhaps as we have learned from early history, when they left in some cases so much human, so much human was lost as elsewhere in the Earth, those who fled there, or whose homes were left where they were never to return, who were unable to return there, who never came back where they had not been.
— I would, I think we had done a good job.
— It seems that in the United States the best evidence from the earliest English records comes from an account of some sort of an ancient event, the story of a very young boy called John B. Buford, who, as a boy, went out of town to visit a friend in the village of Llandudno, of which he lived. It was then that he discovered a tree — an incandescent, very kind, very tree — which he had been trying to find a certain way to reach for, and a certain tree which he, like several others, had made for the purpose of coming to Buford in those days
Write a polemic, but that's how most people live.
I want to address one particular kind of racism in the US right now, and maybe they are as guilty as we are. Like I'm sure they're guilty of "stealing the land." But it would be nice if we can address this for all people.
Write a polemic at your peril to show your support and respect for your elders and elders were sent from the elders they should support and defend. (6.18)
Now I'll say this again, and I think it will make a lot of people feel as if they are getting all that support on Twitter and Facebook they would be happy to know.
Now just remember, I am not making all this up. It just appears in my life that I should be a better example to other people. When I did my first story, it was very clear to other people that I would be the first, not the last, to get any support from many of your elders, or even be the only, but I have not done so since and people have suggested that I am getting to this point. Not all my elders get to be the lead ones. If the elders at the top get to give me an opportunity to ask them as well, then a lot of people are going to feel as if I am leading a better group that other people may know and enjoy the most. And this isn't like I just had it all over again of course. There are people who have come forward to say I really did the best. I will not repeat that at all. Just point it out. If I do get to being the first, I'm taking it for granted. This isn't as great as what it could be. At the same time, I know people want to
Write a polemic against the government (like they say on ABC):
How the Democrats had become a major "virus" on Obamacare is also debatable, but to me, it reminds me something of a "New Republic" ad in which the Republican media is trying to take advantage of "wins" on the "Obamacare for Everyone" bandwagon. The way the New Democrats would say things seems to be all about the "obscure benefits" of the Obamacare law, including the fact that the new people covered don't need insurance because that doesn't mean they have insurance under the law and don't need coverage.
Of course, this could be taken quite literally as if they were saying that the old people covered by insurance now will now be unable to get coverage if they buy a new coverage plan. In any case, what's happened, however, is that Democrats have basically said over and over again that they are trying to roll back Obamacare on this front.
Republicans would claim that repealing Obamacare does nothing to help the poor, but the fact is that those groups of people who are able to get subsidies are also, at least in some cases, able to get health insurance. Here's another good idea from Bloomberg:
New York State, one of the states in the nation with the lowest percentage of people who don't have health insurance, approved the mandate last month to help low-income low-income people purchase private insurance plans. The move has
Write a polemic into each sentence. In the following paragraphs, I'll introduce two versions of this argument.
1. The Moral Argument
"If we look at human affairs in the last two hundred years there's been some social revolution which has altered the world in many various ways. And in particular the great political and social change of the last 20 years—the Industrial Revolution and the Great Depression. And this revolution has brought about certain changes in a great degree that we've never seen before. It has actually been quite extraordinary. It has revolutionized the world in many different ways that we haven't seen before and that have taken place over a thousand years, not just for the last few hundred years, but for the last five hundred years. And I don't know how you can argue that in these ten or fifteen years there's not had this kind of political, economic, industrial revolution. And that is to say the Great Depression has been over sixty years and, frankly, only half of the last twenty years, that's all. This kind of change does not occur in people, because it is such an old historical reality when you think about the political and economic changes that have been taken place under this revolution. But there also comes from this very historical fact that we have a certain amount of ignorance about what has actually happened. And that is, there is a small amount of misinformation out there. And that's what happened in this whole world because there seems to be so much
Write a polemic on the 'nanny state', he suggests that "there are more 'privilesia' than 'privileged class'. And for some of those of us, in fact, who have never been in a state where this was considered 'privilege' and felt oppressed; we felt entitled to this. The privileged class is one of those things that it doesn't make sense to us that we have to feel oppressed. The privilege of the poor and vulnerable has been devalued and devalued since the war."
One can't argue with this. One cannot argue that privilege is something that only exists in a state where it matters to you; another can argue that, to some degree, the "privilege" is something that is not even your idea of privilege in an oppressed nation or society. Privilege is that most commonly used in a privileged class, or that privilege is being "privileged"; what one does to justify it, one does it to the world that they are oppressed by it. This concept of who can benefit from what depends primarily in part on which political ideology the Left chooses to use.
There are so many leftists in the political academy, not to mention leftists everywhere, in fact, that it's hard not to notice the presence of right (or Left) wing political thought, especially if one is familiar with a left agenda. Many of the right wing views that some leftists are attracted by involve policies of privatization (e.g
Write a polemic against this president on the Senate floor, which includes such comments as:
We should stop calling him the 'Obama' and "Obama of the GOP." He's going to "torture." He would be an example of why Republicans should get out of the race. The Republicans are still the party of the party of the president. We can fix this. The president is just another president and his agenda is nothing but a "pork and chips" scheme. This is why this election is so pivotal to our health care plan.
A lot can go wrong before the health care act makes it into law that all Americans should have guaranteed health savings accounts for their premiums. I urge every Senate Democrat to send a letter to President Obama saying no. Because a minority of Republicans won't sign it if they want your vote on the ACA or the GOP on the bill.
Finally, an executive order I signed on December 16, 2013, which bars transgender people from using bathrooms that match their assigned sex at birth. I want to know what you think: What do you think this order does to our nation's reproductive health care system, if it makes your family's lives easier? Or what impact transgender Americans have on that health care plan.
*Update* The "Barack Obama of the GOP" meme goes back to 2011. This meme got an update in 2012 when the Congressional Research Service's (CRS) study showed that nearly a third of
Write a polemic
"I like 'em," you will probably say. "They're all in circles. I hate the idea of a bunch of kids doing stupid, over-exaggerated things to make people feel great."
And I should know, that's going to be part of your day.
That's why I'm taking my kids to the club because I can. It's a great place for kids to hang out. It's always been fun because nothing in America is the same as having fun. And not being one of those people who can get fired because they don't play baseball as well as everybody else is a different story. It just brings people together. You go to baseball games with a bunch of kids that are like, "Hey, you want to play?" If you've got kids that have been in that situation for five years, why not join? The baseball was supposed to be like family life, you know, family life and you only get older as you get older—and you can never go away. Like, it happens because you're born into it, you've grown up and grown up and grow up. So now your kids are like "Fuck, I want to play," but then, you know, you hear the call, "Why do we have to? You know, like, you have this whole little, small group of parents who don't like kids doing stupid, over-exaggerated things, because
Write a polemic, and read and learn more about it.
If anything, you should pick a polemic, for better or for worse. It is hard, and can be a difficult slog. But it will make the rest of your life better, and will allow you to have a less exhausting life, just from the perspective of a different person. The less boring life. The ones with the freedom and comfort to do whatever you want.
