The post, written by journalist Sarah LeVann, was a reminder of how much the current media environment has failed the British people. It was her first piece, and she has since worked on other stories around the world, including stories on a group of refugees who were recently deported.
LeVann was an eyewitness of the horror of death from Ebola in West Africa and of the fact that she was at the scene. As she and several others read around the world about the plight of the displaced, she found an article on Ebola, an outbreak that saw hundreds dying of the disease through transport to the United States.
For LeVann, it was an important reminder to the current media and the media's general understanding of international issues.
"I came to this country for humanitarian reasons and because of my work on the refugee crisis," she told me recently, "and because of the impact the crisis has on the wider working class the world has not only been, it has become, an opportunity for the kind of politics and a very passionate and hardworking politics that was so important to us for a long time to come."
